The cradle of local education in the Joseon Dynasty, Jeonjuhyanggyo Confucian School

Jeonjuhyanggyo Confucian School was founded in the 3rd year of King Gongmin of Goryeo (1354) as an educational institution in the Joseon Dynasty, which is now the middle and high school. He moved to the current position after receiving the kings approval by neglecting the courts refusal to go against the Chinese government.

Jeonju Hyanggyo was proud of its size and age to the extent that it is called the Capital Hyanggyo of 53 Halls in Jeolla-do. Newspaper, outer gate, mangaru, 5 spaces Myeongnyundang, 6 spaces in Dongjae and Seojae, 3 spaces in Gyeseongsa Temple Seongjae, Shinmun, Ipdeokmun, 4 spaces of samajae, 6 spaces of Yangsajae, 2 spaces of books, staff It was a large-scale building with a total of 99 spaces, including a room, a raised room, and a repair room.

Most of Hyanggyo is located on a hill, so Daeseongjeon is located behind, while Jeonjuhyanggyo is located on a flat surface, so it is located in front of Daeseongjeon as a mythology. The present Hyanggyo has undergone major remuneration in 1987 and was designated as Historic Site No. 379 in 1992.

Ginkgo tree of Jeonjuhyanggyo Confucian school

In the front yard of Daeseongjeon and Myeongryundang, there are two ginkgo trees, each of about 400 years old. It means to be a healthy person who grows up with larvae like a ginkgo tree that does not burn insects. Interestingly, the ginkgo tree on the right side of the Daejeonjeon Hall in Hyanggyo is called a male tree because "the male has turned into a female, and the bank has been opened". Legend has been passed that when you borrow a ball, you pay in the past.
